  • Venus
Venus has been synonymous with feminine beauty for millenia, and has been a touchstone for artists of every epoch when they seek to express the complex mysteries of feminine strength and influence. Drawing on his own life-long fascination with this theme, Richard MacDonald has created a new vision of Venus for the 21sth Century: she is classically understated in her beauty, yet richly nuanced with confidence, restraint, and radiance. Venus is Aphrodite–everywoman–and as she has for centuries, she brings to mind the miracle of fertility and creativity in the broadest of connotations. Her elegant form has the spiraling, upward flowing curves of water as she emerges from the primordial earth on an architectonic column contrasting humanity and the softness of her flesh. Her expression is enigmatic and intriguing–there is the subtlety of the master’s touch in every plane and on every surface of her body. Modeled by the American actress, Kelly Greyson, Venus encompasses strength, perfection, and unlimited possibility–a celebration of the unique qualities of a woman of our time. View a video from behind the scenes during the making of Venus.
